Golders Green is known internationally as a hub of Jewish culture. It is essentially a small town, which grew up around the opening of Golders Green Tube in 1907 and steadily integrated with the rest of the city as each expanded into the other. During the early 20th Century, it became a haven for many of the Jews who left Germany for the UK. Over the following years, other ethnic groups settled in the area, for example in the 1970s, there was a noticeable influx of Asian and African immigrants. Overall however the area still has a distinctly Jewish identity.
Hampstead Garden Suburb was the brainchild of Henrietta Barnet who envisioned it as being for all people regardless of class or income. It is therefore rather ironic that this area is known for being one of the richest parts of London with one of its key streets, “The Bishop's Avenue” being commonly known as “Billionaires Row” for reasons which are obvious to anyone who visits it. As its name implies, the number of houses with gardens here is well above the London average. Quite simply there are massive opportunities for marketing to affluent customers in this area. One of life's realities is that people do judge by appearances and manner and hence a personable operative has more chance of being allowed to approach a property, particularly when it is equipped with top-of-the-range security systems and in some cases private security guards.
Just as importantly, our operatives understand that it is crucial to avoid embarrassing our clients by association. In particular, they appreciate that any dropped leaflets must be picked up and kept until they can be discretely recycled, since any leaflets which end up as (accidental) litter are likely to infuriate local residents.
